Joel Hohenberger—Chief Executive Officer
Joel Hohenberger is a technology entrepreneur with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University. He has been with Smartfield since 2009 and has been key in the design development of Smartfield’s technology, equipment, and online services.
Prior to joining Smartfield, Hohenberger most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of UMC Physician Network Services. Hohenberger previously owned and operated a telecom equipment company before selling the company in 2000. His professional career also includes engineering and management positions with Tech Tel Communications, Hicks and Ragland Engineering and Texas Instruments.
Loyd Rinehart—Chief Financial Officer
Rinehart currently fills the roles directing the operating and financial activities of Smartfield. He has served in several executive roles in other industries including financial services, wireless communications and manufactured housing. The profile of companies in which he has served vary from start-up operations to publicly listed institutions.
Rinehart’s expertise includes recommending and implementing strategies such as growth through acquisitions, rationalizing operations, regulatory compliance and reporting, corporate finance, and sale of non-core business lines. He has also served on many boards for profit and non-profit organizations.
Rinehart is a Certified Public Accountant.
Steven M. Hawkins
An innovator in plant information technology, Steve Hawkins joined Smartfield in January 2011. Hawkins was partner in The Context Network, a business management consulting firm specializing in agriculture. Hawkins is a 40-year veteran in the agricultural industry whose previous post included President and COO of Delta and Pine Land and held leadership positions in Asgrow Seed Company.
David Sharbutt—Chairman
David Sharbutt, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Smartfield, served as Chief Executive Officer of Alamosa Holdings Inc. and Alamosa PCS Holdings Inc. from October 1999 to February 2006. Collectively, Alamosa raised over $1 billion in equity and debt during his tenure.
Sharbutt is involved in a variety of investments including real estate, telecommunications, restaurants, and technology development such as Smartfield where he serves as the Chairman and primary investor
