SmartCrop Field Sensor

SmartCrop® offers new and simple irrigation management products and services where “the plant is the sensor. Patented and developed by the Agriculture Research Service of the USDA, SmartCrop combines plant biology and agronomic science to precisely determine crop water demand. With the yearly SmartCrop subscription service, Smartfield™ offers growers the convenience of knowing when the crop needs a crucial water application. Therefore, growers are able to “listen to your crop® and avoid over-watering. SmartCrop is the simple and affordable way to maximize profits while saving water.

SmartCrop’s state-of-the-art technology allows growers to monitor their crops 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. SmartCrop can alert the grower via a text message or e-mail when specific events, like rainfall or high stress levels, are occurring in the field. Growers are also able to view a variety of different crop data such as heat units, days since planting, and daily stress levels by logging into your online dashboard.

A SmartCrop Base Model system includes:

  • a Smartfield Base Station
  • Base Station Mounting Kit
  • Base Station Antenna, Modem
  • Two (2) IR Field Sensors with standard mounting poles
  • a Davis Rain Gauge with Mounting Bracket
  • a Relative Humidity Pod
  • and a Cellular Antenna.

SmartCrop Deluxe offers the added feature of PivotScout™. PivotScout provides the grower with GPS pivot location and pivot irrigation status.

SmartCrop Premium is the ultimate solution in crop stress monitoring. With the added benefits of the Deluxe edition, SmartCrop Premium  includes a PivotScout Pro, which will allow the grower to stop the pivot on demand or after a predetermined amount of rainfall. SmartCrop Premium gives you more crop per drop.

Growers are able to view an abundance of crop specific information on the Smartfield website. Depending on the products purchased, Smartfield tracks critical information such as heat units, stress levels, irrigation status, flow and pressure readings, and rainfall. All of this information is collected for each growing season and stored for historical reference. Smartfield offers this information through a yearly web-based subscription service.
