The Progressive Farmer includes an article on Smartfield in their special feature on efficiencies in agriculture.
Now that he (Glen Schur) has high-efficiency pivots, he’s focusing on irrigation scheduling. About six years ago, Schur started working with James Mahan, a USDA-ARS plant physiologist, to refine an ARS-designed approach to irrigation. Developed by Smartfield in cooperation with ARS, the product was released commercially last year and is sold under the name SmartCrop.
